The TOI Soldier Project's Video Game Series
I would like to inform you that I am on my third version of a pilot game in 3D and I have begun designing my first 2D Video Game, both will be run in the game engine Unity3D. I wish there was a way that I could post a game tester trailer in this section but I cannot in the free version of weebly, hopefully soon though. I will create albums in this section to let you know the process of our video games status, although in the background you will see my desktop, I am also working with the free version of Unity.
I wanted to continue working as if I were to pitch my idea to a big company tomorrow, so I decided to create this animation that will better illustrate my world. I chose to set this fight scene between a gray, white and black character (representing the three major alliances in my world) to the beat of Tech N9ne's "Strange 2013 Featuring The Doors. I am talking to Strange Music in order to obtain permission to use their song for my animation so until then I will not post a full animation until I get their approval. The pictures that you see above are from setting up the scene and the first three seconds of animation, I hope that you enjoy, oh and notice that there are no guns in the scene, I want to create the effect by using special effects.
Mission Statement for The T.O.I. Soldier Project's Video Game Department
Our Video Game department will be divided into two main groups, one dedicated to creating material for The T.O.I. Soldier Project and the other will run workshops in Veteran Shelters to those that are interested in creating video games. The reason I created this dynamic is because not everyone has the same idea of what is considered when making a good game, we can listen to their ideas and settle on one idea as a group.
The T.O.I Soldier side of the Video Game Department will create First Person Shooters, Role Playing Games and other genres that will best help tell the story. We take the story lines that may have been too difficult to create any other way because of its tactical nature or we can talk to multiple people about one event. I have had the honor that nearly all of my Army battle buddies still call, reach out and send messages to me to tell me how they are doing and most of them have been to war with. Because of our job responsibilities we were separated a lot during war but because of that we can discuss the same event in different perspectives. This will allow our customer to take the same game and play I from a different angle that provides new challenges. If we get yet another client that was exposed to that event we can create an add-on to enter their story into the existing product.
The Outreach Service will use the development process of creating a video game to help connect the veterans military values and adapts them to accomplish an everyday task, it is a good vehicle to provide physical examples. The creation process will re-establish the teamwork mentality as all participants are working toward the same goals, there will be obstacles to overcome which forces the veterans to develop a solution or compromise, working with a deadline allows the soldier to task manage their responsibilities in order to meet deadlines and Once the product is complete not only will they have that product to verify their dedication they also can market and advertise it to help them become a little more financially stable.
I received a bachelors in Video Game Design with a minor in Animation because for a long time I did not know how to talk to people, which was the opposite of my personality when in high school. Although I really created The T.O.I. Soldier Project when I was five with the death of my Nana Lupe, the sweetest woman known to man. I was her first grand child so I was spoiled, I took it really hard after she was gone. Then five years later my Ti Chemy past away the day after I moved out of his house, that man was like a father to me and I thought the unthinkable just to try and be with him. It was then I decided I needed a coping device so I created a world that allowed me to visit them whenever I want. Maybe I could not hug and laugh with them but in a way I could always go to them for advice when dealing with an issue, I had lost that world shortly after I got out of the military but three years ago w were reunited.

First Attempt of Creating a 3D Video Game (Version #1) -The Villa-
I want to be clear and honest, the reason that the first attempt looks so well is because it was designed by the Tornado Twins for a gaming challenge in 2013, they did everything. I did follow their tutorials and put the scene together myself to familiarize myself with all of the controls associated in Unity 3D and the end result looked very similar to the original. I added the still images to show that I have the capability to understand other jobs associated with creating a video game and have an awareness of the process needed to complete an overall task.
Second Attempt of Creating a 3D Video Game (Version #1) -Park Coliseum-
This was the first environment that I ever created from modeling to entering it into Unity, it is a bit rough but I was able to take some of the lessons I learned in creating the first game and used it on my own assets. This is also the first time that I was playing around with special effects inside of Unity and in 3DS Max, there is a lot of things that still need to be added and fixed but I wanted to keep only my assets in this scene to test myself in the skills I learned from the Tornado Twins. In this game currently the main character can only explore the terrain, I want enemies but in the time frame allowed I was not able to rig and animate actions but they can be added later. It is also noteworthy that I designed this place after Los Angeles MacArthur Park, a destination that has a very colorful scene (not all in the good way).
